Are you looking for a way to save money while being sustainable? The 2022 Inflation Reduction Act includes a rebate program to help Americans making up to 150% of their local median income switch from gas to electric. With this new act, you could receive up to $14,000 worth of upgrades!

Using the Area Median Income Lookup Tool, you can see if your income makes you eligible. Another beneficial tool is Rewiring America's online calculator, which helps you identify how much you could receive from the program.

For example, here are some possible rebate options:

  • $840 off an electric or induction range/cooktop
  • $500 for a contractor doing installation or electrical work
  • Up to $1600 for insulation, air sealing, and ventilation
  • Up to $2,500 for upgrades to your electrical wiring
  • Up to $4000 for an upgrade to your electrical load service center (the box that holds your circuit breakers and distributes electricity from your utility)

If you plan on doing some home renovations or buying household appliances, you might significantly save while moving in a sustainable direction.

Since these rebates will kick in in mid-late 2023, now is the time to see your qualifications and research your best options. The rebate is set to end on September 30, 2031.
