Step-by-Step

Step One: Check your eligibility 

To be eligible to register to vote in Florida you must: 

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be a Florida resident
  • Be 18 years old (you may pre-register to vote if you are 16 years old) 
  • Not be declared mentally incapacitated with respect to voting in Florida or any other state without having the right to vote restored 
  • Not have been convicted of a felony without your civil rights having been restored 
  • Not claim the right to vote in another county or state 
  • Submit your valid Florida driver's license number or Florida identification card number. If you do not have either of these, you must provide the last four digits of your Social Security number. If you have not been issued a Florida driver's license number, Florida identification card number or social security number, you must write "none" 

 

Step Two: Collect necessary personal information  

You need the following information to fill out your registration:

  • Florida DL or Florida ID number 
  • Florida DL or Florida ID issued date 
  • Last 4 digits of your Social Security number 
  • Last Name 
  • Date of Birth 

 

Step Three: Choose your party affiliation and enter demographic information 

  • You can choose to register for the party of your choice or have “no affiliation”
  • Registering for a particular party allows you to vote in the Primary Election for the candidate you want to represent your party in the General Election 
  • Enter your Legal Residential Address 
  • You can choose whether to enter additional demographic information, such as gender, race, ethnicity, and military status if applicable  (this information is used to gather data about who is registered to vote)

 

Step Four: Signature attesting that all the information recorded is true
