WEDU PBS Wins NETA Public Media Award

WEDU PBS was honored at the 58th Annual NETA Public Media Awards on September 13 at the NETA Conference in New Orleans, winning in the Marketing & Communications: Special Event category for its screening events of Triumph: Tampa’s Untold Chapter in the Civil Rights Movement.

WEDU has hosted screenings at schools, libraries, faith communities, museums, and civic organizations across the Tampa Bay area.

The NETA Awards recognize public media organizations and the work they do to further education and serve their communities.

“Congratulations to our entire WEDU team,” said Paul Grove, WEDU President and CEO. “The Triumph documentary captures the bravery of young people whose actions helped change the course of history in Tampa and beyond. It’s a privilege to be recognized for our work to share this story.”

NETA represents more than 300 member stations. Stations compete within divisions based on station size. The Public Media Awards honor NETA members’ finest work in community engagement, content, education, marketing and communications, independent productions, and overall excellence.

Awards are judged by a group of expert panelists from within the public media system, as well as industry professionals outside of public media.
