The Results are in! American Public Television (APT) announced this year’s winners of Create Cooking Challenge: My Family’s Recipe.

Create Cooking Challenge: My Family's Recipes focuses on family food traditions passed on through generations. Each participant recorded a two-minute video showcasing their skills, enthusiasm, and commitment to a family recipe.

Out of more than 100 entries, two digital hosts were selected by America's most recognized culinary hosts: Kevin Belton (Kevin Belton's Cookin' Louisiana), Pati Jinich (Pati's Mexican Table), Diane Kochilas (My Greek Table), Nick Stellino (Storytellers in the Kitchen), and Martin Yan (Yan Can Cook!).

Second Prize Winner, Dennis Perez, is a WEDU PBS viewer from Tampa, Florida. His winning video, Cuban Picadillo, received high praise from the judges for his engaging video and unique camera shots.

Being raised in a multi-generational setting, Dennis’ family spent most of their time in the kitchen than anywhere else in the home. His family comes from deep roots in Cuba with a rich history of recipes. Dennis continues to follow his family’s tradition of “expressing love through food.”

“I wanted to share a Cuban dish that was straightforward and simple to make,” Dennis said regarding why he chose the Cuban cuisine, Cuban Picadillo, to use for his video entry.

Dennis Perez won a cash prize and production equipment to complete a 3-episode digital series for CreateTV.com. WEDU PBS is excited for Dennis and his incredible achievement in highlighting his family's recipe while emphasizing his Cuban roots.
