Meet Caleb Sartor, volunteer builder at Habitat for Humanity of East Polk County. Caleb has been building houses as a volunteer for the past two years and has helped build five homes for people in need.

Caleb enjoys volunteering at Habitat for Humanity and loves interacting with new faces while building homes for people in the community. "The people who volunteer here have a tremendous spirit for giving. People come out ready to go and do what they can to cultivate seeds of beauty in their community," Caleb said.

Caleb helps with nearly every aspect of the construction process, from siding, baseboards, and painting to installing doors and cabinets. "I feel accomplished by being a part of something like this, to give people shelter and make them feel as though they have a place of security in the community," he said. Each build is a new opportunity to make a life-changing difference for a family. "One of the first builds I helped with was for an elderly woman. I saw her kids and grandkids come to help build the house and turn the resources into their home and safe haven."

On the day of his interview, Caleb was present for the dedication ceremony, where the new homeowner got the keys to the home built by volunteers. The homeowner shed a tear as she thanked Caleb for his hard work and hugged him. "If you go out and give something of yourself without expecting anything, you will get more than you could ever expect."
