Job Summary

WEDU is seeking an organized self-starter who will be responsible for directing and technical directing WEDU’s local programming content. Content will include local program series and specials, pledge drives, station spots and client productions. Duties will involve directing and/or producing content from concept through post-production and coordinating all elements necessary to successfully complete assigned projects on time and within budget.   

Additional assignments to include: directing special projects, use of non-linear editing system to assemble program segments and for producing on-air promotional spots. Creation of graphic elements used for studio and edited projects.

Candidate should have a working knowledge of production switchers, control room equipment, graphics hardware/software and familiarity with current production techniques. Must be capable of handling several projects simultaneously, be able to work independently, and work flexible hours to complete all projects by deadline.

Ideal candidates will have experience with Ross Carbonite production switchers and Ross Xpression graphics generators, as well as working knowledge of Adobe Premiere editing systems and Adobe Photoshop.

Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years related work experience preferred. Drug test required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and supervision of studio projects from pre-production through production and post-production.
  • Proficiently perform professional directing and technical directing functions.
  • Produce, write, and edit to completion assigned promotional, proof-of-performance and station image spots.
  • Development, coordination and execution of programming ideas as assigned.
  • Provide support and back-up duties to the Production Manager.
  • Provide effective internal and external communications, both verbally and in writing.

 

Functional Duties

  • Effective hands-on operation of all technical equipment to be used as Director and Technical Director for productions.
  • Effective writing skills.
  • Editing of assigned project content to completion.
  • Designs floor plans, lighting and camera movements for production.
  • Ensures organization of all components of production.
  • Complete all reports, bookkeeping, clerical functions in a timely manner.
  • Represents WEDU PBS within the community.
  • Performs any other duties of an incidental nature as assigned.
