About the Host

Ernest Hooper is a veteran columnist who served the readers of the Tampa Bay Times for 27 years, four months and 23 days — yes, he counted — Hooper now uses his journalistic experience to present topical issues impacting the Tampa Bay region. He also works as VP of Communications for United Way Suncoast, promoting the nonprofit’s events in areas that mirror WEDU’s coverage area. Hooper remains a friend of Tampa Bay and periodically acts as a keynote speaker and emcee at various events. He’s married to his University of Florida sweetheart, Florence, and they have raised three children.
