Ways to Give

Wills and Bequests

If you plan to make a charitable gift by will:

  1. Please think it through carefully.
  2. Meet with your attorney to discuss and update your will. Tell him or her exactly what you want to do. Be as clear as possible in describing what you want given to whom.
  3. Let us know. We hope you’ll tell us when you have named WEDU in your will. We would very much like the opportunity to thank you for your generosity.

If you prefer to remain anonymous, your gift will be kept completely confidential, but at the same time, recognition of your gift can encourage others to do the same. Whatever the case, we will honor your wishes, because we appreciate your support immensely.

The specific legal bequest language for WEDU is:
I give to Florida West Coast Public Broadcasting, Inc., (WEDU), Federal tax I.D. 59-0840626 its successors or assigns, a charitable 501(c)(3) organization located at 1300 North Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33607,   [enter the dollar amount or percentage you desire and the how the funds are to be used, if you choose]  .

Following are a few examples of language you may want to use.

For a specific amount:
"I give, devise and bequeath the sum of $ dollars to Florida West Coast Public Broadcasting, Inc., its successors or assigns, a charitable 501(c)(3) organization located at 1300 North Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33607."

For a percentage from your estate:
"I give, devise and bequeath % of my estate to Florida West Coast Public Broadcasting, Inc., its successors or assigns, a charitable 501(c)(3) organization located at 1300 North Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33607."

For a certain asset from your estate:
"I give, devise and bequeath [insert description of the particular property]" to Florida West Coast Public Broadcasting, Inc., its successors or assigns, a charitable 501(c)(3) organization located at 1300 North Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33607."

For a residuary bequest, after other bequests and expenses have been paid
"I give, devise and bequeath all the rest, residue and remainder of my property and estate, both real and personal, wherever located, to Florida West Coast Public Broadcasting, Inc., its successors or assigns, a charitable 501(c)(3) organization located at 1300 North Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33607."
