On Saturday, February 14th, more than 470 guests experienced the flavor, culture and excitement of España during the fourth annual WEDU fundraising gala, Sojourn™.

From the passion of flamenco to running of the bulls, pirate invasion to la tomatina, exotic gypsy dancing to romantic solo performances, the unique entertainment at the gala was once again met with great fanfare; guests joined the exciting lineup as they danced the night away, with castanets in hand, to the pulsating rhythms of a nine-piece live band.

The breathtaking décor of a lush, candlelit Spanish estate garden set the mood for the centerpiece of the event, the wine-paired gourmet dinner inspired by the culinary mastery of José Andrés. The four-course meal was a gastronomic palate of flavor from Spain paired with an endless supply of some of the best wines the country produces.

The gala, one of the last major events to take place at the historic Belleview Biltmore Resort before it closes its doors for a two-year renovation, is the station’s most important friend-raising and fundraising event of the year and garnered more than $80,000 for WEDU. This funding will assist the station in advancing our award-winning educational, enriching and thought-provoking programming and community outreach initiatives.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, February 13, 2010 as we continue to bring our programming to life during Sojourn™ - the event deemed “the party of the year!”
