WEDU to Honor the Memory of Eugene C. Patterson
January 25, 2013 (Tampa, FL) — WEDU, west central Florida’s primary PBS station, will honor the memory of Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Eugene C. Patterson by re‐broadcasting a profile produced for WEDU’s “Suncoast Business Forum”. The program originally broadcast in March 2009 will be re‐broadcast Thursday evening January 31st at 8:30 pm, and Sunday
afternoon February 3rd at 2:30 pm.
Patterson, former editor, chairman, and CEO of the Times Publishing Company (publisher of the Tampa Bay Times) died Saturday January 12, 2013 at age 89. Patterson’s 41 years in journalism included editorships at the Atlanta Constitution, Washington Post, and the St. Petersburg Times (now the Tampa Bay Times). Under his leadership, circulation at the Times nearly doubled, the newspaper won numerous awards including two Pulitzers, and was recognized by Time magazine as one of America’s 10 best newspapers.
The “Suncoast Business Forum” is a monthly public affairs program produced by WEDU TV 3, Florida’s primary PBS station. The program is broadcast the last Thursday each month at 8:30 pm.
