Imagination comes to life on a new WEDU special!

New Episode

On the next episode of Kids in the Arts...Summer camp isn’t what it used to be. Many of today’s “camps” offer a diverse curriculum, specializing in a focus on creativity and improving technique. Kids in the Arts visits four unique summer programs taking place in the Tampa Bay area designed to bring young students together in an arts environment. Featured in this episode are: American Stage Theater in St. Pete; the Ringling School for the Arts in Sarasota; the Leepa-Ratner Museum in Tarpon Springs; and the Tampa Theater.

On the next episode of Kids in the Arts, some of Hillsborough County’s best and brightest young musicians come together to perform in the All County Senior High Symphonic Bands. The 9th and 10th grade and the 11th and 12th grade Symphonic bands are featured. We also show you how the Tampa Museum of Art reaches out to the community to help young people explore their creative side. Their after school and weekend programs make sure students go beyond art appreciation to art creation. Japanese stab books and three dimension art are just two of the ways young people make art a hands on experience.

Kids in the Arts is back with another inspiring show featuring young people in the art community. This month’s episode takes a behind the scenes look at local high school choirs performing for an upcoming television special with world renowned musical artist, Tim Janis. Tim has produced and performed several specials for PBS and his latest creation is a tribute to American Veterans. The artists are local, young aspiring singers pulling out all they have to honor others and to perform their best. Over 14 local schools and nearly 1000 students participated in the television taping session. The program was recorded at the WEDU studios and will air later this year on WEDU as a special titled “Celebrate America.” Kids in the Arts is made possible with the support of the Arts Council of Hillsborough County and the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners.

FST produces world premieres and contemporary works which have been produced on or off-Broadway within the last five years.
