GREAT STORIES. UNSCRIPTED MOMENTS. INCREDIBLE PEOPLE. VALIANT EFFORTS.
The day was filled with great stories, unscripted moments and nail-biting anticipation as WEDU recognized more than 85 nonprofit organizations in the area who applied for honors and recognition in the fourth annual WEDU Be More Awards™, held Thursday, January 15th at the A La Carte Event Pavilion in Tampa.
For those of you who attended the event along with the (other) 350 guests, I’m sure you left inspired by the many unsung heroes and their valiant efforts, as well as motivated to be more. |
“The WEDU Be More Awards have become more than the “Academy Awards for Nonprofits” (Ernest Hooper, St. Petersburg Times); the awards serve as an inspiration to everyone in attendance. While it’s the nonprofits who share their stories of good work; everyone in the audience shares in the nail-biting anticipation of the awards themselves. No one ever leaves the event without having been dramatically moved and refreshed with a sense of wanting to “be more” in the New Year.”

“Winning a Be More award through WEDU was such a phenomenal experience. It
brought validation to the work our board and staff have been doing for the past
several years. To say that we’re bursting with pride and re-energized for the
[next] year is an understatement!”
Girls Incorporated of Sarasota County
“We
can’t begin to tally up the changes in our organization that have occurred
because of the relationship we now have with WEDU and the Be More program.”
Railroad Education and Learning Center of Florida
“I am convinced that we are
70% towards a capital campaign goal of $4.6M as a result of receiving a Be More
Award. Many of us [nonprofits] get accredited by various entities, but there is
something really, really special about being recognized by your own hometown
people and especially when it comes from such a stellar organization as WEDU.”

President and CEO of the Children’s Home
