WEDU RECEIVES HIGHEST RATING FROM CHARITY NAVIGATOR FOR THE FOURTH STRAIGHT YEAR
Florida West Coast Public Broadcasting, Inc (dba) WEDU, recently received Charity Navigator’s coveted 4-star rating for sound fiscal management for the fourth consecutive year. WEDU brings home 6 Emmys from the 2008 Emmy Awards! Recently nominated for 15 Suncoast Regional Emmy® Awards for two of its local series and two special documentaries, WEDU was the winner of six prized statuettes – representing programming excellence – at a gala awards ceremony held in Orlando in early December. More than 500 guests attended the ceremony representing the Suncoast Region made up of television and cable stations throughout Florida and Puerto Rico, and parts of Alabama, Louisiana and Georgia. New legislation creates a special opportunity for you to provide for the future of your community-owned PBS station, WEDU.
The United States Congress recently passed a bill which includes an extension of the IRA Charitable Rollover. This will apply to all IRA distributions made throughout the 2008 and 2009 tax years. The extension allows individuals 70½ and older to donate up to $100,000 from their IRAs to their favorite charities tax-free. |

Bring your treasures aboard and cruise the world with Antiques Roadshow!
The Great Lakes: Cruising Through America's Magnificent Inland Seas (August 29-September 5, 2009) and Voyage into the Classical World: Exploring the Greek Islands and Turkey (October 7-17, 2009). Each custom voyage will be hosted by an Antiques Roadshow appraiser together with Executive Producer Marsha Bemko. Travelers are permitted to bring up to three items (though no jewelry) for shipboard appraisal.

US Senate Approves Bush's Nomination
WEDU is proud to announce that the United States Senate recently approved President George W. Bush’s nomination of Elizabeth (Liz) Sembler to serve on the Board of Directors for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). Mrs. Sembler will join the CPB Board with three other confirmed nominees: Lori Gilbert of Nevada, Bruce Ramer of California and the Honorable David Pryor of Arkansas.
