Perhaps the single most important long-term goal of WEDU is to create a permanent financial base – a strong Endowment Fund – to preserve and sustain the educational programs and services for which we are so well known. To this end, WEDU is actively seeking named endowment gifts. You can be part of building our $10,000,000 endowment by 2010! As our endowment grows, it provides stable funding to really make our program dreams come alive!

The establishment of endowed funds through direct or deferred gift arrangements yields ongoing support for outstanding programming, while offering donors the opportunity to be recognized into the future. With a named endowed gift, you advance the station’s mission of education, culture and citizenship for generations to come.

Building our endowment is a big endeavor, comparable to our full digital conversion now underway. Many of our major donors have given to our Capital Campaign. The next step in supporting the future of WEDU is endowed giving.

Endowed support will allow us to develop even more innovative local programs, and keep WEDU strong and creative. These funds are invested strategically to preserve their principal value with earnings generated each year to support WEDU program development and production.

An unrestricted endowed gift of any amount allows us the flexibility to put your gift to use in a program area of need at the discretion of WEDU.  Or, you may have a special program interest you’re eager to support and a minimum named endowed gift of $50,000 may be directed to that area. This endowed gift can recognize the donor or the family, or honor a loved one. WEDU’s program categories for endowed gifts include:

  • Children’s educational programming and community outreach
  • Arts, Performance and Culture
  • Health and Science
  • Business and Public Affairs

WEDU staff will work with you and your advisors to establish an endowment that is easy to manage, flexible, effective and that accomplishes your goals for your charitable giving. The best thing is that your endowed gift will live on as a permanent gift to your community and to WEDU. In addition, if you arrange an endowed gift TODAY it can be matched through a challenge grant from the Tampa Bay Community Foundation.
